Bio

  • Kevin Klau is a passionate General Manager committed to leading teams, developing people and helping individuals and organizations reach their potential. He is currently the Executive Director of Friends of the University of Notre Dame, Inc. (FUND Foundation), a 501c3 non-profit that uses the Name, Image and Likeness of Notre Dame Student-Athletes to promote the work of charitable organizations. In addition, Kevin helped put an investor group together and is a Limited Partner of the team trying to bring a WNBA expansion franchise to Denver, Colorado.  

    Prior to joining FUND in 2022, Kevin was the Group Executive & Vice President at Danaher, where he had responsibility for Danaher's Water platform. As shared in a 2020 investor event, the Water platform has $2.5B in revenue and helps the world treat, measure, disinfect and optimize water for municipal and industrial customers. Prior to becoming the Group Executive of the Water platform in May, 2019, Kevin was the President of Hach for five years, the largest operating company in Danaher’s Water platform. Hach delivers analytical instrumentation, chemistry and software for municipal and industrial customers, and has a mission to ensure water quality for people around the world.

    Kevin joined Danaher in 2002, and spent five years in a variety of leadership roles in the Industrial Technologies segment, working across Marketing, Customer Service and Operations. He became the President of Portescap, a Danaher operating company specializing in the design and manufacturing of precision miniature electric motors and drives from 2007-2009. In 2009, Kevin moved to Corporate to become Danaher’s Corporate Vice President for Human Resources, with global responsibility for driving a focused human resources strategy centered on talent acquisition, performance management and leadership development. During that time, Danaher’s CEO, Larry Culp, chose to have an experienced Danaher General Manager lead HR and focus on talent strategy, leadership development and strengthening the HR function. Kevin worked for Larry as VP, HR from 2009–2012.

    In 2012, Kevin joined Hach, where he led Product Marketing until becoming Hach’s President in 2015. He picked up additional responsibility for OTT HydroMet and Sea-Bird in 2017 before being named Group Executive in 2019. He also served as the Executive Sponsor for Danaher’s Women + Friends Associate Resource Group, which aims to establish an inclusive culture where women believe they can be their authentic selves and achieve their aspirations at Danaher.

  • In addition to Kevin’s professional responsibilities, he plays a key role in several non-profits, including Water Mission, a global leader that provides safe water and sanitation systems in developing communities, disaster relief areas and refugee camps around the world. He also chaired the Board for Breakthrough from 2019 through 2021, a non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of incarcerated men and women through entrepreneurship and life skills education. He and his wife Erin currently are Co-Chairs of the Advisory Board of the Klau Center for Civil & Human Rights at Notre Dame. In addition to his non-profit Board experience, Kevin chaired the Board of SW Anderson from 2016 through 2019, a stocking distributor and engineering representative for specialty fasteners, standard fasteners and other OEM components that is owned by an investor group that includes his family.

  • As the VP of HR in 2011, Kevin collaborated with leaders of Beckman Coulter, who had established a number of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs that later would serve as the foundation for a number of Danaher initiatives. In 2014 he was selected to be part of a Danaher initiative focused on accelerating representation of women in senior leadership roles. More recently, he served as the Executive Sponsor of Hach's Women's Association for Vision, Empowerment & Success (WAVES), which was launched in 2017 and continues to thrive today. In 2020 he was chosen to serve as the Executive Sponsor of Danaher's Women + Friends Associate Resource Group. Throughout these experiences, he has listened, collaborated with fellow leaders and driven change that led to real results. Outside of Danaher, Kevin served on the Advisory Board in 2018 and then chaired the Board of Breakthrough (previously named Defy Colorado) from 2019 through 2021, a non-profit dedicated to enhancing the lives of currently and formerly incarcerated men and women through entrepreneurship and life skills education.

  • In his free time, Kevin loves to spend time with family & friends, hike, snowshoe, play tennis, play golf & enjoy music. He is also one of the owners of Daredevil Brewing, an Indiana craft brewery, and has made early stage investments with New Stack Ventures, as well as companies focused on edge computing & augmented reality. In the fall you can also find him & his family tailgating for long stretches in both South Bend (Go Irish!) and Charlottesville (Go ‘Hoos!).

  • Kevin earned an undergraduate degree in Government and Public Policy from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration (D’02). He has been a guest professor at Darden for the past 20 years, facilitating classes on Strategy and General Management, and served on Darden’s Corporate Advisory Board from 2010–2012.
